At the event held at Avşarhan Building, 25 hotels set up stands to provide students with information about their professions. Participating students had the opportunity to meet with hotel officials one-on-one regarding internship and job opportunities.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşiltaş: "This is our first event, and it will continue with broader participation in the future. Although 25 hotels are participating today, when we include chain hotels, it will be seen that this organization is much more comprehensive. Students from the Faculty of Tourism, Yeşilova İsmail Akın Vocational School, Ağlasun Vocational School, Bucak Faculty of Business, and the Culinary Department of the Vocational School of Food, Agriculture and Livestock are participating in our event. Meeting with the sector before taking their first steps into professional life is very important for our students," he said.
POYD President Hakan Saatçioğlu also made a speech: "Aim not only to be a worker in tourism but to be a leader. Your professional knowledge will be your greatest strength. Add meaning to everything you do," advising students on ways to be successful in the sector.
MAKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy also mentioned in his speech the 6+2 model applied in faculties and the 3+1 model in vocational schools at MAKÜ, saying, "MAKÜ is among the universities that stand out in the field of tourism. With our applied education models, we prepare our students for professional life in the best way. This event is a great gain for both students and sector representatives," he said.
The event, held with broad participation, was a productive organization where students met with sector representatives and received guidance for their career planning. MAKÜ plans to make such events continuous in the future.
With the 6+2 model applied at MAKÜ and the 3+1 model in vocational schools, students are offered the opportunity to gain experience in the sector they will work in. Students receiving applied education in different fields such as gastronomy and landscape equipment are entering the sector well-prepared.
