Within the scope of the protocol; academic research and field studies will be conducted to support the economic and social development of the districts of Gölhisar, Çavdır, Altınyayla, Yeşilova, Tefenni, Karamanlı, and Kemer. The university's scientific infrastructure will be integrated with the business world in the region to create new investment opportunities.
Rector Dalgar; “We are always very pleased to work for every part of Burdur, whether it is Western Burdur, Eastern Burdur, or Central Burdur, by collaborating with strong civil society structures like our Chamber of Commerce and with all institutions of our state. May this cooperation protocol be auspicious, and may Allah grant us the ability to provide good services and achieve good results for our people and region.”
MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that they are always ready to support regional development with the academic knowledge and research infrastructure the university possesses, saying, “We will develop projects for the development of Western Burdur in the light of scientific data. With this cooperation, we will contribute to the region in the fields of industry, agriculture, and tourism.”
Strong cooperation in science, industry, and agriculture
BUTSO President Yusuf Keyik emphasized the importance of this cooperation, saying, “This joint work we are conducting with MAKÜ aims to analyze the dynamics of Western Burdur using scientific methods, strengthen the local economy, and ensure sustainable development. We will develop projects aimed at female and youth employment and use the agricultural, industrial, and tourism potential of the region more effectively in the light of scientific data.”
The potential of the region will be evaluated with academic support
Rector Dalgar highlighted the tourism, agriculture, and industrial potential of Western Burdur, stating that the university will provide scientific contributions to the region in these areas.
“I, personally, and with all our institutional capacity, will contribute to these studies, and I am very pleased about this.
Gölhisar: The tourism and agricultural potential of our Gölhisar, the region we call the Gölhisar plain, has become an important greenhouse center of Turkey in recent years. Gölhisar already has a very large tourism potential due to Kibrya. A large part of the meeting topic during the recent visit of our Minister of Tourism was about Kibrya and Sagalassos. Because these archaeological values, especially the recent accelerated work in Kibrya, and our university's excavation work are very important.
Yeşilova: Again, Salda Lake in Yeşilova. Recently, as a university, we established a science center at Salda Lake. We are preparing this science center for opening, hopefully. As it reflects in the media with the contribution of you, esteemed members of the press, we started receiving messages and emails from all over the world saying ‘we want to visit here, we want to conduct scientific research here.’ We are quickly preparing there as well. The establishment of the Salda Lake Science Center officially came into effect last Sunday as published in the Official Gazette. We have a tremendous tourism potential in Salda. However, there is a potential there, it is not about going and benefiting from that potential, but we need to transform it into profit and the development of this city with very smart organizations and common sense.
Tefenni: Our Tefenni is again an important center in Turkey for the production of medicinal aromatic plants, which we call fennel production. Karamanlı is a region famous for its marble, where companies from all over Turkey and the world have come to open marble quarries. Kemer, Çavdır are regions that stand out especially in livestock. Our university has the academic infrastructure to support these regions, and we hope to contribute more to our region and our people in these matters. We are excited to provide this contribution.” he said.
The cooperation protocol was signed by BUTSO President Yusuf Keyik and MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, gaining official status. The ceremony, attended by academics and representatives of the business world, was considered an important step towards the future of Western Burdur.
