The regulation of the 'Salda Lake Science, Education and Nature Conservation Application and Research Center' established within our university was published in the Official Gazette dated February 16, 2025, and numbered 32815.
The Science Center aims to support nature conservation efforts by conducting scientific research in Salda Lake and its basin.
The primary purpose of the Salda Lake Science, Education and Nature Conservation Application and Research Center established by our university is to scientifically examine Salda Lake and its surroundings and to support nature conservation efforts. The main objectives of the center are to conduct scientific research in Salda Lake, to carry out biodiversity studies on endemic plant and animal species, and to inform the public about Salda Lake and wildlife.
The Salda Lake Science Center will conduct research in fields such as hydrobiology, limnology, nature conservation, wetland management, and eco-tourism, as well as support university students in conducting scientific studies by utilizing laboratory and infrastructure facilities. The center will develop joint projects with public institutions, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations both domestically and internationally, organizing scientific studies, symposiums, and workshops.
Will contribute to regional tourism and promotion
In a statement on the subject, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized that the center will not be limited to scientific studies only, but will also make significant contributions to the promotion and tourism of the region.
Rector Dalgar stated, “Our Salda Lake Science Center will play a critical role in the preservation and promotion of this unique natural heritage. We will host important international-level research by welcoming scientists from all over the world. I wish this center to be beneficial to our university, Burdur, and our country.”
