Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar met with research assistants working at the university and made evaluations on academic development, digital skills, mentorship, and accreditation processes.

 

Rector Dalgar gave important messages under the headings of “Playing an active role in micro-qualifications, strengthening the academic production climate, developing an international academic culture, and contributing to society.”

 

“You are the generation that will shape the future of our university”

Expressing his satisfaction in meeting with young academics, Rector Dalgar emphasized that research assistants play a critical role in the development of the university.


“I am very happy to be here with you today. All of you started your careers in a much more equipped and interactive era compared to our generation. Therefore, I believe you will add much more to what we have done.” he said.

 

Rector Dalgar stated that they continue their work in line with the Higher Education Council’s (YÖK) 2030 vision, focusing on universal knowledge production and societal contribution, and said, “We are preparing our university for the future by following developments in the world.”

 

“Accreditation is the key to international recognition”

Emphasizing the great importance of accreditation processes for the future of the university, Rector Dalgar said, “Accreditation is an indication that our departments are constantly improving and adapting to the needs of the era. If we want to be a university recognized at an international level, we must all contribute to this process.”

 

“Digital and social skills are complements to academic success”

Rector Dalgar pointed out that digital transformation is effective in every field and said that artificial intelligence and analysis software have now become a part of every discipline.


He stated that artificial intelligence courses have been made compulsory at the university in this direction and that training programs for trainers have been initiated. Additionally, he mentioned that mentorship and one-on-one communication with students are important parts of the academic culture, saying, “Academia is not just about teaching, it is about guiding.”

 

“Let’s produce together, let’s elevate together”

Rector Dalgar stated that nearly 300 academics are involved in about 50 projects carried out at the university and expressed that they expect young researchers to participate in interdisciplinary projects.


“Focus on international publications and projects. Let’s strengthen the academic production climate together.” he said.

 

At the end of his speech, addressing young researchers with the words, “We will carry this university further together. Be innovative, be brave, produce together.” Rector Dalgar listened to the participants’ suggestions and answered their questions.

 

The meeting held at the Rectorate Senate Hall was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen, Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Alpaslan, and many young researchers.
