MAKÜ hosts 1500 international students from nearly 50 countries

The program started with the "welcome" speech of the International Student Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Gürken Dilek. Then, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar greeted the students and gave important messages about the university's international vision.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Dalgar stated that MAKÜ hosts approximately 1500 international students from nearly 50 countries, “This picture is the clearest indication that Mehmet Akif Ersoy University is progressing confidently towards becoming an international university.” he said.

Rector Dalgar also drew attention to MAKÜ's innovative education approach, stating that they successfully completed the institutional accreditation process and became a fully accredited university for 5 years. 

Dalgar, stating that the university is among the leading institutions in Turkey in applied education, expressed that with the ‘MAKÜ+’ mobile application, personal career counseling, micro-qualification programs, and social applications are offered to students.

“Think of the four years you will spend here as a development camp” said Dalgar, stating that Burdur is a center of learning and maturation for students. 

Dalgar, asking students to maintain their cultural and heartfelt ties with Turkey when they return to their countries, said, “You are the special representatives of our heartfelt geography. You will further strengthen the bridges of friendship between your own countries and Turkey.”

At the end of his speech, Rector Dalgar gave the message to the students “This is your home. Do not feel alone at MAKÜ, we are with you”.

The event continued with the screening of the MAKÜ Promotional Film prepared by the Corporate Communication Application and Research Center. 

The program ended with a cocktail organized by the International Student Coordination. At the cocktail, students met each other and formed their first friendships for the new term.
