MAKÜ Students Selected as 'University Team of the Year' in the Field of Gastronomy

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Tourism Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department students and Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School Culinary Program students achieved many successes, including the "Best University Team of the Year Competition" award, at the "Gastro Antalya 2024: International Gastronomy and Culinary Stars Meeting" event held in Antalya between November 14-17, 2024.

 

MAKÜ students, participating in the competition under the guidance of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department instructor Lecturer İlhan Avcu, won the first prize in the Best University Team of the Year Competition with their outstanding performance. With this prestigious award, they won medals and a trophy, becoming the pride of MAKÜ.

 

They Reached the Top in International Competition

 

In the international gastronomy competition attended by famous chefs from 40 countries around the world and 4000 participants, MAKÜ students showcased their talents by competing in four different categories:

 

Hikmet Özel won a gold medal in the "Student Chef Restaurant Dessert" category, while Can Arman achieved a gold medal in the "University Student Chef Fish Competition" category. Furkan Yılmaz, Mustafa Ertuğrul Uraz, and Nesibe Halenur Al achieved first place in the "Modern Turkish Cuisine Team Competition" and "Best University Team of the Year Competition" categories, winning a gold medal and trophy.

 

MAKÜ is Training the Chefs of the Future

 

Lecturer İlhan Avcu, who made a statement about this achievement, expressed that their students won these awards thanks to their disciplined work and innovative approaches. Avcu said, "This pride is not only the result of our students but also of our university's vision. We will continue to train the chefs of the future."

 

An Award Also Came to Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School Culinary Program Students

Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School Culinary Program Students also received a Silver Medal in the "Best University Team of the Year Competition." 

 

Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School Culinary Program students participated in the Gastro Antalya 2024 Gastronomy and Culinary Stars Meeting held in Antalya. 

 

The "Best University Team of the Year Competition" Award was Given to MAKÜ

 

With the support of Lecturer Muhammed Haykır and Lecturer Yunus Baygül, the students prepared for the competition and won trophies and medals in the "Best University Team of the Year Competition," "University Level Student Fish Plate," and "Pizza" categories, making MAKÜ proud. 

 

In the "Best University Team of the Year Competition," Zeynep Uysal, Göknil İnceoğlu, and Gamzegül Bağiçi won a silver medal, Mahmut Kıllı won a gold medal in the Pizza category, and Göknil İnceoğlu won a silver medal in the University Level Student Fish Plate competition.
