As part of the Science Cafe events organized by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Science Communication Coordination, the “Physical Literacy” talk held on the occasion of May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day was completed with intense participation and interest.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Oğuzhan Dalkıran, a faculty member of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at MAKÜ, emphasized the importance of movement in children's developmental processes, gaining a habit of physical activity, and the culture of healthy living. Participants had the opportunity to learn that physical literacy is not limited to sports; it plays a fundamental role in leading an active, healthy, and conscious life throughout an individual's life.

The program was hosted by İstiklal Middle School. Three faculty members from the Faculty of Sports Sciences, two graduate students from the field of sports sciences, and 10 undergraduate students from the Department of Physical Education and Sports supported the event. A total of 107 students studying at the school participated in activities individually and as a team in eight separate tracks consisting of football, basketball, and different physical activities, experiencing both fun and educational moments.

The event aimed to increase children's physical awareness, highlighting not only the importance of bringing scientific knowledge to society but also the significance of acquiring an active lifestyle at a young age. The energetic participation of the students and the team spirit added color to the event.

At the end of the event, thanks were given to the academics, students, and school administration who contributed to the organization, and it was stated that science communication activities aimed at all segments of society would continue to increase.
