Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Science Communication Coordination organized Science Cafe Meetingsi, bringing together young people preparing to choose a university with the professions of the future. In the events held at Burdur Republic Square, academics, industry representatives, and students came together at the same table to share their experiences with the participants.

 

In the events held in a friendly conversation environment, participants not only obtained information about the departments; they also received comprehensive information about career opportunities after graduation, the expectations of the industry, and the competencies that will stand out in the future business world.

 

Within the program, the prominent professions of the future were discussed, including Autonomous Systems, Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots, Data Science and Analytics, and Digital Agriculture Technologies.

 

In the "Autonomous Systems" session, MAKÜ's educational model in this field, the practical skills students gained in laboratories, and the qualifications needed by the industry were discussed. Academics and industry representatives emphasized that robotic technologies have become one of the rapidly growing employment areas.

 

In the "Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots" meeting, new generation production models where agriculture intersects with robotic technologies were discussed. Participants evaluated how smart agriculture applications will provide a transformation in agricultural production in the future and the career opportunities in this field.

 

In the "Data Science and Analytics" program, the importance of big data, artificial intelligence, and analytical technologies in the business world was addressed. Industry representatives stated that the need for data science experts is increasing day by day, explaining to young people the importance of not only technical knowledge but also project development and analytical thinking skills.

 

In the "Digital Agriculture Technologies" session, the digital transformation of the agriculture sector, software-based production systems, and smart agriculture applications were discussed. Participants pointed out that this discipline, which combines coding, data analysis, and agricultural technologies, will be one of the important professions of the future.

 

Throughout the Science Cafe Meetings, which attracted great interest, students, parents, and teachers had the opportunity to ask experts direct questions, while also gaining important information that would guide them in the selection process.

 

The event implemented by the MAKÜ Science Communication Coordination contributed to introducing science beyond the campus boundaries and helped young people get to know the professions of the future closely.
