As part of the Science Cafe events conducted by the Science Communication Coordination of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), an awareness meeting was held for students during the exam period.
At the event titled “Ease Your Exam Anxiety, Discover Your Potential” held at TOBB Anadolu High School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serap Özdemir Bişkin, a faculty member of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department of MAKÜ Faculty of Education, was a guest.
During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bişkin met with students and provided information about the causes of exam anxiety, the function of anxiety in life, and the common patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors encountered during the exam process. The program addressed the thoughts that increase students' anxiety during the exam period, focusing on how these thoughts can be questioned and how more functional perspectives can be developed.
The importance of students recognizing their own strengths and values was emphasized during the meeting, and strategies were shared to support skills such as focusing on goals, maintaining motivation, and being able to progress despite anxiety.
At the event, which attracted great interest from students, the message was conveyed that the exam process is closely related not only to academic success but also to psychological resilience and self-awareness.
