The Inter-University Wrestling Turkey Championship will be held at MAKÜ

The Inter-University Wrestling Turkey Championship, which will be hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, will bring together 63 universities, 606 athletes, and approximately 150 coaches and managers in Burdur.

Burdur is preparing to host another important sports organization. The Inter-University Wrestling Turkey Championship, which will be held on the campus of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, will bring together athletes from all over Turkey.

The championship, organized under the coordination of the Turkish University Sports Federation, will take place between March 28 – April 1, 2026. The organization, which will be attended by 606 athletes from a total of 63 universities and approximately 150 coaches and managers, will witness great competition for five days. The competitions, which will start on Saturday, March 28, will feature a ceremony at 16:00 with the participation of the Secretary General of the University Sports Federation, Mehmet Yönal, where athletes will compete on the mat for the Turkey championship.

This major organization is noteworthy not only in terms of sports but also for the city’s economy. During the championship, the approximately 800 athlete delegation expected to come to Burdur is anticipated to create activity in the accommodation, transportation, and food and beverage sectors. This situation is also expected to provide significant contributions to local tradesmen.

MAKÜ, which stands out with its modern sports infrastructure and facilities, aims to strengthen its identity as an “athlete-friendly campus” once again with this organization. The university’s experience in previous organizations will contribute to the smooth execution of the championship.
