The promotional meeting held in Burdur within the framework of the "Local Development Initiative Program" conducted under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology took place in the Assembly Hall of the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In the meeting organized within the scope of the new incentive system shaped by the vision of the Turkish Century, the focus was on Burdur's strategic potential in line with the goal of local development.

MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, who attended the meeting, stated that the university actively contributes to the process with its strong infrastructure and academic accumulation, especially in the field of livestock.

Rector Dalgar emphasized that MAKÜ has become an important knowledge and application center in breeding high genetic capacity pedigree cattle, reminding that the university is one of the two centers authorized in embryo transfer in Turkey.

Rector Dalgar said, “The limitation in Burdur's existing water resources necessitates a transformation based on efficiency in livestock. This new support model for breeding high-yield pedigree animals with a capacity of a thousand heads or more can position Burdur as a center not only within the country but also internationally for exporting animals with high genetic capacity. We, as a university, are ready to support the process with all our knowledge to bring this vision to life.”

Dalgar also stated that the university is ready to provide academic contributions not only in livestock but also in other priority investment areas such as the evaluation of marble waste, wood processing technologies, and modular furniture production.

The opening speech of the meeting was made by Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, while Western Mediterranean Development Agency (BAKA) Secretary General Volkan Güler shared technical information about the incentive elements of the program. Güler listed the four investment priorities determined for Burdur as follows:

1.     Breeding of pedigree cattle with a high genetic capacity of at least a thousand heads

2.     Converting marble waste into value-added products by micronizing

3.     Wood processing, modular furniture, and hotel/office equipment production

4.     Cross-laminated timber (CLT) production

It was stated that a wide range of incentives is offered within the program, from VAT and customs duty exemption to the allocation of investment locations, and that applications started as of August 1 and will continue until the end of September.
