Within the framework of the Türkiye Üniversite Sporları Federasyonu ÜNİLİG program, the Sportive Drone Races were held on May 15-16, 2025, hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) at the MAKÜ Stadium located in the İstiklal Campus. Teams from Akdeniz University, Antalya Bilim University, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa participated with their FPV and Hobby Drone teams.
Drone technology is the key to the future
Speaking at the opening of the races, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized the importance of drone technologies, saying: “Unmanned aerial vehicles are among the rapidly developing technologies, especially in areas such as defense industry and logistics. There is a need for competent drone pilots in this field. Our young people gaining this competence will provide a great advantage for our country. We are very pleased to host such an interesting and technological competition.”
Universities rise with the spirit of TEKNOFEST
M. Gökhan Dinçer, Head of Health, Culture and Sports Department at Antalya Bilim University, who took on the technical responsibility of the competition, emphasized that the Sportive Drone races are the first and only TEKNOFEST-supported aviation organization held at universities, stating: “On this path we set out to spread our national technology initiative to the university level and to meet the need for pilots for UAVs and SİHAs, we are holding the fourth edition of our competition this year. Unmanned aerial vehicles are creating transformation not only in the defense industry but also in many areas from agriculture to logistics. With these competitions, we aim to contribute to technological developments as universities by training quality pilots.”
First day results
The FPV (First Person View) category held on the first day witnessed exciting moments in both team and individual competitions. The winners were ranked as follows:

On the second day of the competition, fierce competition took place in the Hobby Drone category. The individual and team standings were as follows:
