Our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar came together with international students at the iftar program held at Avşarhan dining hall and gave an important good news. Rector Dalgar introduced the 'Burdur Trade Ambassador Program' to be implemented in cooperation with the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This program will enable international students to establish a commercial bridge between Turkey and their own countries.

Rector Dalgar emphasized that the program will contribute not only to the academic development of students but also to their graduation by gaining commercial skills. “Thanks to this project, our international students will be able to graduate as trade ambassadors. They will undertake a mission to strengthen commercial relations between Turkey and their own countries,” he said.

Education and certification program

Students participating in the Burdur Trade Ambassador Program will undergo a total of 90 hours of training, consisting of 60 hours of theoretical and 30 hours of practical training. The training will cover topics such as international trade, export processes, and financing. At the end of the program, students will be entitled to receive the ‘Corporate Foreign Trade Specialist Certificate’. Additionally, in cooperation with the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, students will be matched with commercial firms to gain sectoral experience.

Great opportunity for international students

Rector Dalgar stated that the program offers a great opportunity for international students, saying, “Our students in Burdur will both develop themselves academically and step into the world of commerce to establish international collaborations. Perhaps they will stay in Turkey and continue their professional careers here.”

Students who want to participate in the Burdur Trade Ambassador Program can apply to the International Relations Coordination Office. Rector Dalgar expressed that the program will strengthen Burdur’s economic and cultural relations by increasing opportunities for international students.

This project, which offers international students studying in Burdur the opportunity to strengthen both career and cultural ties, stands out as an innovative initiative aimed at expanding with broader participation in the future.

Rector Dalgar; “This is your home too”

At the iftar dinner attended by the management team, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar continued his speech by asking students to feel at home, saying;

"The Turkish nation has been a society that stands out with its hospitality and love for people throughout history. You must have experienced this warmth in the best way here. I can say with peace of mind that no matter what nation or culture you come from, we want you to feel at home.

Dear young people, see this place as your own homeland. Currently, there are approximately 1200 international students from 40 different countries at our university. Hopefully, we aim to increase this number much further, raising 40 different countries to 80, and 1200 students to 4000-5000. Your education together with our Turkish students will contribute to establishing strong bonds of affection and developing international friendships in the future.

We highly value your presence here. Our International Relations Coordination Office should be a point of application for you. Visit there from time to time, communicate with our professors, and be informed about the opportunities our university offers.

Do not feel like a stranger. Like the native children of this country, feel at home here and share your thoughts, suggestions, and requests with us. Rest assured that we will do our best to meet your needs in line with the opportunities provided by our state."
