The official opening of the 4th Global Sustainable Development Congress 2025, organized in Istanbul this year in collaboration with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and Times Higher Education (THE), was held at the Istanbul Congress Center.
At the congress, which will also make a significant contribution to the international promotion of our country's higher education institutions, approximately 5,000 delegates from global higher education institutions, governments, and businesses, committed to accelerating progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, came together.
The congress, hosted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), brought together universities, research institutions, and civil society representatives from around the world. Current and important topics such as sustainable development, combating climate change, green transformation, digitalization, and the evolving role of higher education were discussed at the event.
More than 5,000 international representatives from 110 countries attended the congress, which will end on June 19, 2025. At the congress, hosted by our country for the first time, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, delivered a speech, while our university was represented by our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Sustainability Coordinator Dr. Lecturer Kübra Ertan, Deputy Coordinator of International Relations Dr. Lecturer Hande Özge Güler Dal, and Deputy Coordinator of Research and Development Lecturer Dr. Damla Bayana, who had the opportunity to closely follow good practices in the field of sustainability and develop cooperation with international stakeholders throughout the congress.
