Within the scope of the cooperation between Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) and Uzbekistan World Economy and Diplomacy University, 10 Uzbek students came to Burdur to receive Turkish language education. This education, conducted under the supervision of 4 faculty members, includes a 10-day intensive Turkish language training camp organized at MAKÜ Turkish Teaching Center (TÖMER).

Meeting at Breakfast

On the opening day of the camp, students and academicians came together with MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar at breakfast. Rector Dalgar expressed his pleasure in hosting the students, saying, “You will not feel any foreignness here; this is your home too. I wholeheartedly welcome you all.”

“They Are Our Own Children”
In his speech, Rector Dalgar emphasized the strengthening of cultural and scientific ties between Turkey and Uzbekistan, saying:

“Approximately 70 students from Uzbekistan are studying at our university. We see them as our own children. MAKÜ continues its efforts to increase international cooperation. So far, we have signed agreements with 20 universities in Uzbekistan. Our preliminary preparations continue to open joint departments and increase information sharing.”

Emphasis on Reviving Scientific Accumulation
Rector Dalgar stated that the ties between the Turkic Republics and Turkey should be built on historical and scientific heritage:

“By remembering the values our ancestors contributed to science, we should increase our joint efforts with the Turkic Republics. Our duty is to revive this accumulation and contribute both to our own nation and to the world. We will continue to work in solidarity with Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and our other brotherly geographies.”

Cultural Solidarity and Investment in the Future
Such academic collaborations between MAKÜ and Uzbekistan not only increase cultural solidarity with the Turkic Republics but also allow students to gain international experiences. During the training camp, students will both learn Turkish and improve their language skills, and have the opportunity to get to know the culture of Burdur.

Rector Dalgar’s warm welcome and the educational opportunities offered by MAKÜ seem to make the educational experience in Turkey unforgettable for the Uzbek students.
