Effective Treatment Within 10 Days
The cream called "Nonherpes," when applied twice a day with gloves on the cleaned wound, ensures the healing of lesions in about 10 days. It was stated that the product, which is in the process of obtaining a license from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, will begin mass production by a company in Ankara next year and will be available for sale in veterinary clinics and pharmaceutical warehouses.

A Success Specialized in Veterinary Medicine
Prof. Dr. Kale, who is also the Head of the Department of Virology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, stated that they developed the cream at the Veterinary Analysis Diagnosis Laboratory in MAKÜ-BAKA TEKNOKENT. The project was realized with a support of 600 thousand liras received from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Support Administration (KOSGEB).

Kale stated that if herpes-related wounds that appear on the udder during periods when animals' immune systems are weakened are not treated, they cause serious health problems, “These lesions not only reduce the animal's milk yield but also spread during milking, affecting other animals. The cream we developed ensures the healing of these wounds, protecting animal health and increasing milk production,” he said.

No Side Effects, Completely Natural
Prof. Dr. Kale emphasized that no side effects such as burning, redness, or swelling are observed in the herbal-based cream. He also stated that there is no other therapeutic product for animals in this field, only vaccine studies exist. He noted that with the rapidly obtained patent, they made a significant contribution to Turkey's innovative solutions in the field of veterinary medicine.

Local and Herbal Solution in Animal Health
MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar said that they developed three different patented products aimed at treating animal diseases within the university and that projects in this field continue. Rector Dalgar said, “We are conducting studies that will reduce dependence on imports in the livestock sector and contribute to animal health with herbal-based products. Our Nonherpes cream is a concrete example of these efforts.”

Full Support from KOSGEB
KOSGEB Burdur Provincial Director Davut Tolga Uğur stated that they produced a high value-added product with support of approximately 600 thousand liras. It was noted that Nonherpes is the first cream developed to treat lesions caused by the herpes virus in animals.

It is expected that this cream will fill an important gap in the livestock sector and reduce Turkey's dependence on foreign sources in this field.
