Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) continues to offer the keys to a healthy life to students and participants through the "Movement Hour" activities organized by the Faculty of Sports Sciences within the framework of the Sports-Friendly Campus Project. In this context, a seminar on "The Effect of Physical Activity on Health" was held theoretically this week as part of the organized physical activities. It was held with intense participation at the MAKÜ Avşarhan Cinema Hall.
In the seminar, Lecturers Raziye Erkan Özalp and İsmail Çalık from the Faculty of Sports Sciences conveyed the positive effects of physical activity on human health to the participants, supported by scientific data. Lecturer Özalp particularly addressed the health issues caused by a sedentary lifestyle and emphasized the critical role of regular physical activity in preventing many diseases, from cardiovascular diseases to obesity, from diabetes to depression.
Lecturer İsmail Çalık stated that sports are not limited to physical health alone but also provide significant benefits for mental health. Çalık explained with examples the contribution of sports to stress management, its role in improving sleep quality, and its effects on the development of self-confidence in individuals. He also offered participants tips on leading a more active life with small changes in daily life.
At the end of the seminar, a series of recommendations were made to increase participants' awareness of the importance of physical activity. After the seminar, participants asked questions to the presenting academicians to gain information on topics they were curious about. The event, which attracted great interest, was considered an important step towards increasing public health awareness.
The "Movement Hour" activities will continue every Wednesday throughout the year with various sports events.
