Visit to Burdur Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home by Gerontology Department and Elderly Care Program Students

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Health Sciences Gerontology Department students and academicians visited Hilmi-Hafize Evin Nursing Home Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center. During the visit, Faculty of Health Sciences Vice Dean Dr. Lecturer Buket Şimşek Arslan, Gerontology Department faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Sütlü, Dr. Lecturer Nurvet Başıbüyük, Dr. Lecturer Ebru Akbaş and their students, as well as Çavdır Vocational School Elderly Care Program faculty member Lecturer Özge Kutlu and her students were also present.

Students who came together with the nursing home residents chatted with the elderly and benefited from their experiences. During the organization held during the visit, MAKÜ students had the opportunity to have fun with the nursing home residents with a concert given by Sümer Ezgü, a beloved artist of Burdur. The elderly had a pleasant time by singing along with the young people. The event organized by the Nursing Home Directorate created a warm atmosphere between the gerontology department and elderly care program students and the nursing home residents, forming a bridge between generations. The nursing home residents cheered up and danced during the concert, having fun with the young people. This event created unforgettable memories for both the nursing home residents and the students.

The visit contributed to the Gerontology Department students reinforcing their professional knowledge and experience by interacting with the elderly.
