MAKÜ and the World's Best Universities Wageningen with Specialization in the Field of International Cooperation

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) and Wageningen University of the Netherlands held a meeting to discuss projects on the genetics of small ruminants raised in the Teke region. This meeting includes steps that will strengthen MAKÜ's internationalization initiative in its area of specialization.
The meeting was attended by MAKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, representing Wageningen University Prof. Dr. Martien Groenen, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Prof. Dr. M. Çağrı Karakurum, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Lecturer Prof. Dr. Özgecan Korkmaz Ağaoğlu, International Relations Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Ömer Gürkan Dilek and academic staff of the International Relations Coordination Office.
In the presentation made by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Lecturer Prof. Dr. Özgecan Korkmaz Ağaoğlu, general information and research objectives of the planned projects on the genetic structure of small ruminants raised in the Teke region were shared. It was emphasized that these projects are important not only for local livestock but also for the exchange of information and development of expertise at the international level.
It was also stated at the meeting that the cooperation between the two universities will create more expertise support and project-based initiatives in future projects. Prof. Dr. Martien Groenen from Wageningen University made valuable contributions to the projects from an international perspective and made positive evaluations that the existing cooperation would pave the way for larger-scale projects.
In a statement about the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner stated that international collaborations contribute to regional development, saying, “These projects will have an important place in both regional development and the field of agriculture and livestock on the international stage. By collaborating with leading universities in the world such as Wageningen University, we aim to bring more expertise and new initiatives to our projects.”
This joint project will make a strong contribution to MAKÜ's international cooperation efforts in the field of livestock and will also create new opportunities for regional development.
