Awareness was created with special events for the Disabled Week at MAKU.

An event was organized within the scope of "10-16 May Disability Week" by the Coordinatorship of Disabled Students Unit at MAKU. The event, held at our University Conference and Exhibition Hall, started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. In the program, which continued with opening speeches, first of all, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Top, the Coordinator of the Disabled Students Unit, made a speech.
In her speech, Top emphasized that Disability Week is an important opportunity to draw attention to the difficulties faced by individuals with special needs, to emphasize their equal rights in society, and to create awareness. On the occasion of this week, she expressed that each of us has a responsibility to understand the obstacles encountered by individuals with special needs in their daily lives, to help them overcome these obstacles, and to improve their lives and promote equality in society.
Later, speeches on the significance of the day were made by Fatih Sayar, the Secretary of the School of Social Sciences Vocational School, Ismail Çevikbaş, the President of the Academy of Accessible Life for Everyone Association, and Prof. Dr. Ümit Şahbaz, the Head of the Special Education Department of the Faculty of Education.
The program continued with a folk dance show by the students of Martyr Hakan Aktürk Special Education Vocational School and a music performance by Selcan Ağlaşan, a student of the Department of Music Education at MAKU, together with Yunus Can, who works at MAKU. The program ended with a visit to the handicrafts exhibition of the students of Martyr Hakan Aktürk Special Education Vocational School.
