Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) introduced the MAKÜ Activity Portal, developed to make the work carried out in academic and administrative units more systematic, to the Senate members.
The portal, introduced at the Senate meeting chaired by Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, was prepared by the Community Contribution Coordination (TOK) operating under the responsibility of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy. In the presentation conducted by Community Contribution Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Uysal, the operation of the system, the conveniences it will provide to the units, and the roadmap for the data entry process were discussed.
Activities will be collected in a single system
The portal, designed to cover not only community contribution activities but also all activities carried out in the university's academic and administrative units, will ensure that the activities are recorded from the planning stage. Thus, monitoring, reporting, and sharing of activities with relevant units will be facilitated.
Thanks to the system that also supports the planning phase of the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, units will be able to enter their activities that are still in the preparation phase into the portal. The data of completed works can be automatically analyzed, activity summaries can be downloaded in PDF format, and exported as an Excel file.
Another feature of the portal will be the automatic creation of posters suitable for the type of events held. Additionally, it will also be possible to publish activities in an integrated manner with the units' web pages.
Will contribute to institutional memory and international rankings
It is aimed that the data obtained through the portal will create a strong data infrastructure that can be used in MAKÜ's Institutional Internal Evaluation Report (KİDR) studies and in international evaluation processes such as THE Impact Rankings.
During the presentation, the importance of determining the representatives of unit and sub-unit activities and establishing an approval mechanism for the healthy operation of the system was also emphasized.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Uysal stated that the portal will increase the visibility of the works carried out at the university, saying, “Very valuable works are being done every day at our university, but some of them may not be visible. With the Activity Portal, we aim to keep a record of the labor, enable our units to easily share what they do, and strengthen our institutional memory. Our portal is ready for use; we are excited to implement it together with our units.”
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy also expressed his satisfaction about the transition to the application phase by providing information about the development process of the portal. Gürsoy noted that necessary updates will be made in the system based on the feedback from the units during the usage process.
The portal was developed through inter-unit collaboration
The MAKÜ Activity Portal was realized in collaboration with the Information Technology Department and the Corporate Communication Application and Research Center (KİMER). Under the coordination of Information Technology Department Head İsmail Atıcı, the software infrastructure of the portal was prepared by Lecturer Hüseyin Karaoğlu, while the web integration was carried out by Lecturer Can Yastıoğlu.
The designs of the posters created through the portal were prepared by Graphic Designer Hürkan Porsuk under the coordination of KİMER Director Dr. Lecturer İsmail Düger.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Uysal thanked the entire team that contributed to the development of the portal.
