Our Higher Education Council President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar's vision for skill-based education in higher education, integration with the industry, flexible learning models, and the development of new competency areas focused on employment has led to the implementation of programs that will enable students to gain competencies in different fields beyond the boundaries of their own departments.

MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that university education should not be seen merely as a process of obtaining a diploma, emphasizing the importance of transforming students' university years into a multifaceted development opportunity.

Rector Dalgar stated, “We believe that a student's diploma should not limit them. University life is actually a large and intensive personal development camp. We want our students to be able to deepen in their own field while gaining new skills from different areas, acquiring new experiences, and shaping their own career paths more freely.”

An original and free educational ecosystem

The micro-competency programs conducted at MAKÜ are designed with the understanding of an original and free educational ecosystem that allows students to receive education outside their own departments. Thus, students will be able to gain additional competencies in different fields that they are interested in or may need in their careers while continuing their undergraduate education.

An important feature of the programs is the direct involvement of the industry in the education process. In the relevant micro-competency programs, at least 30% of the training duration is structured in collaboration with the industry. While industry representatives contribute to the creation of the program contents, they also meet with students directly as instructors in some programs.

This approach aims to enable students to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, recognize the current expectations of the industry during their university years, and establish strong connections with the business world before graduation.

Some programs open up job and internship opportunities

The connection between education and employment is also strengthened in MAKÜ's micro-competency model. Models that will enable students who successfully complete certain micro-competency programs to access internship and job opportunities are also being implemented under protocols made with industry organizations.

Thus, micro-competency programs go beyond providing students with a certificate; they offer the opportunity to gain new skills, meet the industry, experience working life, and access career opportunities.

MAKÜ aims to make university education more flexible, practical, and employment-sensitive with its skill-based education approach, programs developed in collaboration with the industry, and its structure that allows students to diversify their own educational journey.
