According to Research.com’s ranking of “Best Psychology Universities in Turkey 2026”, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) is ranked 3rd in Turkey and 773rd worldwide in the field of psychology. MAKÜ ranked third in the list, which includes only 5 universities from Turkey, following Dokuz Eylul University and Koç University. The number of publications in the field of psychology for MAKÜ was announced as 146, and the total D-index value was 45.

The ranking was prepared as part of Research.com’s 4th published evaluation of universities in the field of psychology. During the evaluation process, international bibliometric databases, primarily OpenAlex and CrossRef, were utilized. According to the methodology announced by Research.com, the citation-based data used in the ranking was based on bibliometric data compiled on November 27, 2024.

The position of universities in the ranking was determined by the cumulative evaluation of the D-index / Discipline H-index values of affiliated researchers who made significant publication contributions in the field of psychology. The D-index indicator aims to measure the scientific impact of researchers in the field of psychology based solely on publication and citation data related to the discipline. In this respect, the ranking considers the direct research impact and academic visibility in the field of psychology rather than overall university performance.

According to Research.com’s methodology, a total of 279,971 researcher profiles identified from different bibliometric sources were examined. Among these profiles, 38,989 scientists whose main research area is psychology were included in the evaluation. The D-index threshold value for researchers to be included in the ranking was set at 30, while it was required that a large portion of the researchers' main publication contributions be in the field of psychology. It was also stated that the researcher profiles were manually verified and compared with reliable publication sources.

MAKÜ’s placement in the top 3 in Turkey in the Research.com ranking is considered an important indicator of the university's scientific production capacity in the field of psychology and its international academic visibility. This result demonstrates that the scientific studies conducted in various disciplines in line with MAKÜ’s research-oriented development approach are reflected in international rankings.

Due to the success achieved, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar thanked all faculty members who contribute to the university's academic visibility through research, projects, and scientific publication activities in the field of psychology. Rector Dalgar stated that MAKÜ will continue its efforts to strengthen its academic ecosystem that supports qualified scientific production and to increase its visibility in national and international arenas.
