MAKÜ is hosting the International Science, Health and Art Congress

The II. International Science, Health and Art Congress, organized under the auspices of Bucak Health School, which operates within Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, brought together academics, students, and participants from different countries in Bucak.
In the opening speech of the congress, Bucak Health School Director and Congress Term President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazife Bakır emphasized that scientific production should not be limited to academic circles and highlighted the importance of producing social benefits through collaborative efforts in the fields of health, science, art, and business. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakır stated that interdisciplinary interaction plays a significant role in the development of innovative ideas and mentioned that the congress is an important platform that strengthens international collaborations.
Congress President Prof. Dr. Zeki Yıldırım referred to the 20-year development process of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, stating that the university sees science, art, and culture as complementary fields. Prof. Dr. Yıldırım expressed that the congress creates new perspectives by bringing together researchers from different disciplines. Highlighting the importance of the international nature of the organization, which included approximately 600 participants, Prof. Dr. Yıldırım noted that the event also provided a rich sharing environment in the fields of culture and art.
Bucak District Governor Can Kazım Kuruca, speaking at the program, stated that science and technology shape the spirit of the age, mentioning that fields such as artificial intelligence and nanotechnology will determine the world of the future. Addressing the youth, Kuruca emphasized that technology should be used for the benefit of humanity and reminded them of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's words, “The most genuine guide in life is science.”
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar expressed that the congress is an indication that the scientific excitement that started last year will turn into a lasting academic tradition. Stating that science, health, and art are fundamental areas that shape the future of humanity, Rector Dalgar noted that especially art and sports play an important role in combating digital addiction. He mentioned that interdisciplinary studies have now become a necessity and stated that developments in health technologies offer new opportunities for human life.
After the opening speeches, a music recital was performed by MAKÜ Turkish Music and Conservatory. The program continued with the opening of the exhibition of the bride mirrors collection and the Science Art Center.
Panels and workshops were held under 17 different topics at the congress held on May 15-16, 2026. Presentations made in the fields of science, health, and art laid the groundwork for information sharing and new collaborations among participants.
