MAKÜ is hosting the Ünilig Table Tennis Championship

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University is hosting one of the important organizations of university sports. The Inter-University Ünilig Table Tennis Championship organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) started in Burdur between April 14-17, 2026.

 

The competitions are organized in two main categories: individual men, individual women, team men, and team women. Athletes are striving to reach the podium with both individual and team performances.

 

“Sports play an important role in the development of young people”

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the competitions, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated that they continue to contribute to the development of university sports. Emphasizing that sports contribute not only to physical but also to academic and mental development, Rector Dalgar expressed that the sports camp center within the university was established to serve young people. Rector Dalgar stated that participation in organizations is increasing every year and said that this is gratifying.

 

“Participation increases every year”

 

President of the Turkish University Sports Federation Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen stated that as a federation, they operate in approximately 60 branches. President Türkmen, expressing that they carry out simultaneous organizations in different provinces of Turkey, said that there is a significant increase in athlete and university participation every year.

 

Emphasizing that collaborations with universities play a major role in the success of the organizations, Prof. Dr. Türkmen stated that Burdur, with its strong infrastructure, is an important center for both national and international sports events. He noted that they aim to reach more students by diversifying activities in the upcoming period.

 

The championship will conclude with the awarding of athletes who achieve rankings following the competitions that will continue until April 17.
