Excitement of "Ethnosport on Campus" at MAKÜ

The "Etnospor on Campus" event, organized with the aim of reviving traditional sports and games, is receiving great interest in Burdur. The event, carried out by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Etnospor Community under the leadership of Süleyman Demirel University, met with students at the İstiklal Campus.

 

In the event area set up in front of the Kitap Kahve Cafeteria, many traditional activities such as archery battles, mas wrestling, mangala, ring throwing, ebru art, cloth model printing, and horseback riding took place. Students had the opportunity to both have fun and get to know ancestral sports closely.

 

SDÜ lecturer Ertan Altun, who made statements regarding the event, also stated that he is the academic advisor of the Etnospor Student Community. Altun expressed that the community was established within SDÜ in 2017 and since then they have met with students through many events and projects.

 

Altun, recalling that they previously organized a similar event lasting two days on the SDÜ campus, said that games such as archery, mangala, mas wrestling, nine stones, and three stones received great interest. He stated that the same events were also held at the Isparta University of Applied Sciences 19 Mayıs Campus.

 

Emphasizing that the "Etnospor on Campus" event has turned into a series of regional organizations, Altun stated that the second leg was held on March 30-31 at MAKÜ. Altun expressed that students showed great interest in the event, saying, "We are experiencing the joy of reviving our ancestral sports."

 

Visit from Rector Dalgar

Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar visited the organized Etnospor event area and met with students. During the event, Rector Dalgar examined the area and listened to the views and thoughts of the students. In the visit, which took place in a sincere atmosphere, the interest in traditional sports branches was noteworthy.

 

During the visit, Rector Dalgar also participated in the archery event, emphasizing the great importance of keeping ancestral sports alive and passing them on to future generations. Dalgar stated that such events contribute to the preservation of cultural values and expressed that the organization was quite meaningful and successful.

 

During the event, a special gift with his name was presented to Rector Dalgar by a student practicing calligraphy. Rector Dalgar thanked for the kind gift and congratulated everyone who contributed to the organization of the event.
