A Workshop on the Effective Writing of ECTS Information Packages was organized at MAKÜ

In the workshop conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Education and the Quality Coordination Office, significant evaluations were made with the aim of strengthening quality processes and achieving accreditation goals.
The opening speech of the workshop was made by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar. In her speech, Çakar stated that the main purpose of the quality assurance system in higher education is the continuous improvement of education, research, and community contribution activities, and she said:
“The establishment of a quality culture is possible through the holistic structuring of program design, learning outcomes, and ECTS information packages. This workshop is of strategic importance in achieving the accreditation goals of our programs and in the continuous improvement of our education processes.”
Prof. Dr. Çakar stated that a total of 18 programs, including 13 undergraduate programs at MAKÜ, are accredited, and that there are 378 programs in total across the university, and she expressed that the workshop was planned in two sessions to support this process.
“Academia is the most advanced form of teaching”
Speaking at the workshop, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner emphasized that universities are not only educational institutions but also centers for research, development, and innovation production.
“Academics are not only lecturers but also scientists who conduct research, develop projects, and produce knowledge. We must remember that we are all teachers at the same time. Academia is the most advanced form of teaching.”
Öner highlighted the importance of aligning course learning outcomes with program outcomes, stating that this way, it can be more clearly evaluated which skills students have acquired. He also announced that a new software program that will digitize the assessment and evaluation processes will soon be shared with faculty members.
Information sharing from expert names
In the first session of the workshop held at the Veterinary Faculty Conference Hall, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Sağ provided a general framework for the process with his presentation on “Bologna Process and European Credit Transfer.” Dr. Lecturer Funda Uysal provided information to participants on the topics of “Writing program outcomes, learning outcomes, and workload calculation.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şeyma Uyar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neşe Öztürk Gübeş, and Dr. Lecturer Hatice İnal gave presentations on “Assessment approaches in learning, evaluation of student performances, and tools used.”
In the second session held in the afternoon at Lavanta Tepesi Hotel, participants worked on practical examples related to the writing of ECTS information packages through workshop activities organized at 11 different tables. At the end of the day, the evaluation report of the conducted studies was presented, and the workshop concluded.
