Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) added a new one to its educational and development activities for children. MAKÜ Children's University, established within the Children's Education Application and Research Center, was opened with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar. MAKÜ Kindergarten students and Mehmet Yıldızlı Primary School 1st grade students joyfully accompanied the opening.
Speaking at the opening, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar; "Our university continues its vision of integration with Burdur with the determination to fulfill its social responsibility. With growth, cooperation with the city will increase, and projects contributing to society will continue." he said.
Before the opening, the Rector's office hosted the little guests. In the meaningful meeting held due to the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, the children first toured the Mehmet Akif’le Hasbihal corner located in the Rectorate building. During the visit conducted with the theme 'I Have a Question for the National Poet', students expressed their curiosity by asking questions to the poet of the National Anthem.
Little ones in the Rector's chair
One of the most colorful moments of the visit was when the Rector's chair was temporarily handed over to the children. MAKÜ Kindergarten students Mert Altın and Eylül Aydemir, along with Mehmet Yıldızlı Primary School student İnci Serbestoğlu, drew attention with their sincere answers to the question 'If you were the Rector, what would you do?'. The children expressed their wish for a special playground to be built for them on campus.
Expressing his satisfaction with these sincere requests, Rector Dalgar stated that the children's playground project on campus was already planned and asked little Rector Eylül Aydemir to contact the Construction Works and Technical Department. With the phone call made by Aydemir, it was shared that the project was ongoing and the park would be completed as soon as possible.
Surprise with gifts and campus tour
At the end of the visit, Rector Dalgar crowned this special day by giving various gifts to the children. As part of the event, the little ones participated in a tour organized on the MAKÜ campus. Visiting the Cultural Heritage Museum and MAKÜ Farm, the students spent time with animals and collected pleasant memories. The campus tour, filled with cheerful conversations and laughter, left a smile on the children's faces.
This meaningful event of MAKÜ became one of the promising first steps of the Children's University, which aims to make children love science, art, and education.
