In his opening speech, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner drew attention to the work carried out by MAKÜ in the field of agriculture and livestock. Öner emphasized the importance of the Agriculture and Livestock Standardization and Certification Center, which is a first in Turkey and implemented under the leadership of MAKÜ, stating that compliance certificates are given to businesses in the fields of dairy cattle, small ruminant livestock, and free-range egg poultry farming.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Öner highlighted that these certification programs are accredited by TÜRKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) in line with standards prepared together with sector representatives and academicians, and that they are the first and only certification body authorized in these three areas in Turkey.
Öner also stated that certification programs for honey bees and bee products, as well as soil-covered greenhouse cultivation, are in the preparation process, and that standardization for beef cattle enterprises has become a necessity specifically in Burdur. In the workshop organized for this purpose, it is aimed to finalize the draft standards prepared with academic accumulation by maturing them with sectoral feedback.
