Our university's Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar and students undertook a meaningful event within the scope of the month of Ramadan. Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School Culinary Department students carried out a project aimed at increasing social awareness by sharing the meals they prepared with the families of martyrs at the iftar table.
Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School students, who carry out social responsibility projects in different fields every month, visit the home of a martyr's family every week during Ramadan. Within this scope, the students visited Şerife Özkaya, the mother of Firdevsi Özkaya, who was martyred in Bingöl in 1991, in Bedirli Village of Yeşilova district. In addition to Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen, Rector's Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Alparslan, School Director Assoc. Dr. Mert Gürlek, project coordinator Lecturer Büşra Şen Avcu, and academicians accompanied the students.
Before the iftar, the delegation visited the grave of martyr Firdevsi Özkaya and prayed there. Then, the students shared the meals they prepared throughout the day at the iftar table with the martyr's family. Emotional moments were experienced during the event.
Rector Dalgar emphasized the importance of students participating in such events that benefit society for their spiritual development, stating: “Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School is at the heart of practical education in the field of tourism. Our students undergo an education process intertwined with the sector at Salda Lavender Hill Hotel. At the same time, they contribute to social responsibility projects. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our students and academicians who participated in this meaningful event by preparing iftar meals for martyr families throughout the month of Ramadan. As a university, we will continue to support every project that benefits society.”
Important Visits by Rector Dalgar in Yeşilova
As part of his visits to Yeşilova district, Rector Dalgar visited District Governor Mustafa Turan and Mayor Okan Kurd in their offices. During the meetings, where mutual exchange of ideas took place, evaluations were made on education and tourism projects in the district. Rector Dalgar thanked District Governor Turan and Mayor Kurd for their kind hospitality.
Later, the delegation visited the Salda Lake Science Center, which officially started its activities with the regulation recently published in the Official Gazette. Receiving information about the works from Center Director Prof. Dr. İskender Gülle, Rector Dalgar stated that the center will make great contributions to the university and the region; “Salda Lake Science Center will host important scientific research in fields such as hydrobiology, limnology, nature conservation, wetland management, and eco-tourism. Our university students will be able to conduct scientific studies at this center, and projects can be developed with national and international collaborations. I wish our center, which will play a critical role in the protection and promotion of Salda Lake, to be beneficial to our country.”
Rector Dalgar and the accompanying academicians closely examined the projects to be carried out at the science center and evaluated cooperation opportunities for the development of academic studies in the region. After the visits, the delegation held a meeting at Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School to discuss the steps to be taken to support academic and scientific studies in the region.
