On the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory, the students of Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School (MYO) carried out a meaningful event. In the organization attended by 200 students, 110 fruit saplings were united with the soil in memory of the victory. The event took place with great enthusiasm with the participation of school staff.
MYO students, who supported the '20,000 Saplings in the 20th Year' campaign initiated specially for the 20th anniversary of our university's establishment, contributed to nature with this event and kept alive the sacred memory of our martyrs. The program began with a moment of silence for the 18 March Çanakkale Martyrs and the reading of the National Anthem.
"We Keep the Spirit of Çanakkale Alive"
Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism MYO Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mert Gürlek emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “On the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory, we aim to keep the memory of our martyrs alive by uniting 110 fruit saplings with the soil together with our students. We are pleased to support the sapling campaign initiated within the scope of the 20th anniversary of our university. Our young people are a great source of hope for the future of our country. Their sensitivity also makes us proud,” he said.
MYO Deputy Director Dr. Lecturer Uğur Tozkoparan stated that the Çanakkale Victory is one of the greatest indicators of the unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation, saying, “Today, we commemorate our martyrs with this meaningful event. If we are breathing freely today, we owe it to our heroes who sacrificed their lives. We commemorate all our martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades, with mercy and gratitude,” he said.
Emotional messages from students
Fatma Telli, one of the students attending the event, emphasized the meaning and importance of the Çanakkale Victory, saying, “Being here today is a great pride for us. We decided to plant saplings to show our gratitude to our martyrs in order to keep the spirit of Çanakkale alive. We will work to carry this homeland entrusted to us further,” she said.
Another student, Beytullah Bakuş, said, “The Çanakkale Victory is very valuable for us Turkish youth. The saplings we planted today will remind future generations of the unforgettable heroes of Çanakkale. Maybe we will not eat the fruit of these trees, but those who come after us will rest in their shade,” he said.
The sapling planting event was completed with the intense participation and enthusiasm of the students, and this meaningful initiative to keep the spirit of Çanakkale alive received great appreciation.
The event ended after the fruit trees were united with the soil.
