Çetin Akdeniz Wind Blew at Burdur Living Heritage Museum

The famous bağlama artist Çetin Akdeniz met with students and academics at a special event organized by Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Culture and Social Research Community. Akdeniz, one of the leading figures of traditional Turkish music, shared deep insights into music by playing the bağlama at the event.

 

Throughout the event, Çetin Akdeniz's musical journey, the history of the bağlama, and its cultural significance were emphasized. The artist highlighted the unifying power of the bağlama by touching on the spiritual and social dimensions of music and said: “The bağlama is not just an instrument, it is a powerful symbol that builds a bridge from our past to the future.”

 

During his talk, Akdeniz, who captivated the audience with his mastery, answered the questions of university students. Advising them not to lose their interest in art, the artist emphasized that music is an element that enriches life. MAKÜ Lecturer Gökhan Çağırgan, who is also a bağlama artist, shared his memories by saying, “Our master Çetin Akdeniz has been a great artist who has set an example for us for years. His presence here today is very valuable and precious for us.”

 

Çetin Akdeniz said, “I am very happy to meet with you, my dear young friends and bağlama enthusiasts, at the Living Heritage Museum upon the invitation of the Culture and Social Research Community today. I hope we come together more often at such events. I thank our esteemed professors Dr. Lecturer Raşit Acar and Gökhan Çağırgan for hosting us beautifully,” he said.

 

At the end of the program, Çetin Akdeniz, who received great interest, was presented with a gift and a certificate of appreciation by MAKÜ Culture and Social Research Community Academic Advisor Dr. Lecturer Raşit Acar. The event was remembered as a pleasant day filled with the sound of the bağlama, where participants collected unforgettable memories.
