Blood donation events were held within the scope of the "Birbirimize Candan Bağlıyız" campaign organized in collaboration with Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Health Sciences and the Turkish Red Crescent. The importance of blood donation was emphasized at the event, which was attended by the university administration, faculty members, and students.

Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Gül Mutlu Gülmemiş, stated that blood donation is a vital treatment tool, saying, "Blood is a vital treatment tool that cannot be replaced by anything else, and since it cannot be stored for a long time, a certain number of blood donations are needed every day. Due to seasonal conditions, especially in winter months and extremely hot days in summer, the number of donations decreases, and stock control becomes difficult. Therefore, it is of vital importance to keep the country's blood stocks at a certain level," she said.

To contribute to this important social responsibility project, 30 volunteer students from the MAKÜ Nurses Community of the Faculty of Health Sciences collaborated with the Turkish Red Crescent to both provide blood donations and raise awareness about blood donation. During the event held between October 14-17, information was provided around the blood donation truck belonging to the Red Crescent, and stands were set up at various points on the campus. Volunteer students aimed to direct their friends to donate blood and increase awareness by correcting misconceptions.

Volunteer students also visited faculty members in their offices to request support for blood donation. Throughout the event, information was provided about the importance of blood donation, aiming to create sensitivity in the community on this vital issue.

This event organized in collaboration with MAKÜ Faculty of Health Sciences and the Red Crescent highlighted the importance of blood donation while once again demonstrating the sensitivity of the university community. Prof. Dr. Gülmemiş expressed her gratitude to all the students and faculty members who participated in the event and stated that similar social responsibility projects would continue.
