One of Turkey's richest universities in terms of student communities, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), has started the Community Introduction Days.
With 124 communities, MAKÜ offers its students a wide range of hobbies throughout their university life. The introduction days, organized to inform newly registered students, are held between September 23-27. In this context, community representatives set up stands at the Istiklal Campus Concert Area to inform students and register new members.
At MAKÜ, which has student communities in almost every field of science, culture, and art, students aim to spend their time efficiently, gain new skills, and improve human relations by joining communities.
Rector Dalgar Visited Community Stands
MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar visited the stands set up by student communities. During the visit, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy accompanied Rector Dalgar. Rector Dalgar and his entourage chatted with community members and wished them success.
After the visit, Rector Dalgar made the following evaluations:
“We started the academic year last week. The 124 student communities at our university set up stands to promote their activities and communities. We provide them with this environment. Our aim here is to encourage students to participate in social activities as well as their academic development. What is meaningful in universities is not for students to participate in the events we organize, but to participate in the events they produce and organize themselves. This develops both their organizational skills and teamwork abilities. Therefore, we attach great importance to such activities.
We have communities related to different subjects and departments at our university. We are pleased that our students are interested in such activities as well as their academic development. We can consider this program both as a 'welcome' event and as an event organized for the integration of communities and for students to get to know each other. The university system is an ecosystem where not only academic competence is gained but also social, cultural, and emotional intelligence can be developed. Student communities are one of the most important parts of this ecosystem. We have a significant number of communities at our university and we continue to add new communities according to the needs of the day. A significant portion of our communities serves the policy of providing social contribution, and we will carry out activities that will ensure integration with the city more intensively through communities this term. I wish our students success once again.
