Significant Visit to the Homeland of Mehmet Akif Ersoy from Rector Dalgar

The Rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU), Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, conducted inspections in the village of Shushice, which is connected to the city of Peja in the northwest of Kosovo, where the house of Tahir Efendi, the father of our national poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, is located. During the visit, Rector Dalgar, who received information about Tahir Bey's house, relatives and the village from Can Mulaj, who has a house next to Tahir Efendi's house, visited the Mehmet Akif Primary School in the village, which was repaired and expanded with additional construction by the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TİKA).

 

During the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. Dalgar, who had a sincere chat with the children studying at the school, asked them questions about Mehmet Akif Ersoy. In addition, he also visited the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Mosque, which was built in 1861, where Mehmet Akif Ersoy's father Tahir Efendi also served as an imam, and was restored by TİKA in 2015, and the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Fountain located next to the mosque.

 

Rector Dalgar stated that his visit to the village of Tahir Efendi, the father of our Independence Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who gave his name to MAKU, was meaningful for him and the university, and that their relations and collaborations with the region will continue to increase in the future.
