MAKÜ Sports Sciences Students Received Practical Training in Lake Eğirdir

Students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Elif Top, conducted a practical training session using canoes and sailboats on Lake Eğirdir in Isparta, with contributions from Eğirdir District Directorate of Youth and Sports and Eğirdir Yeşilada Sports Club.

The training began with preparations on land. The students had the opportunity to practice their theoretical knowledge on an optimist sailing simulator with artificial wind support. This simulator is designed to provide a real sailing experience on land, allowing students to learn basic sailing techniques in a safe environment.

After successful practices on the simulator, the students moved to Lake Eğirdir with expert trainers. Here, they had the chance to gain experience on the water with canoes and sailboats. The calm and clean waters of Lake Eğirdir provided the students with the opportunity to practice both canoeing and sailing sports.

Assoc. Prof. Elif Top stated about the event, "Such practical trainings are extremely important for our students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge and increase their interest in water sports. The natural beauty and suitable conditions of Lake Eğirdir provided an excellent environment for our trainings," she said.

The students who participated in the event stated that in addition to experiencing canoeing and sailing sports, they also developed their teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills. At the end of the training, the students expressed their gratitude for the experiences they gained and the new techniques they learned.

This successful organization once again highlighted the importance that the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University places on practical training. Assoc. Prof. Elif Top and her students stated that they plan to continue their practical training in the field of sports sciences with similar events in the future.
