The entertainment on campus started with MAKÜFEST. The opening ceremony of MAKÜFEST, which will be held at the Amphitheater of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Independence Campus, was held.
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, the management team, academic and administrative staff, and many students attended the opening program, which began with the singing of the National Anthem and a moment of silence.
Later, a performance by the folk dance team prepared by MAKÜ Turkish Music State Conservatory, Turkish Folk Dance Department, under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynel Turan, Dr. Lecturer Nurgül Mıhladız, and Instructor Uğur Bulut was performed. The performance of the team, which has won 5 national championships in competitions, was highly appreciated by the audience.
Evaluation of Social Skills Beyond Academic Development is Also Very Important
Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar made the opening speech after the performance and expressed his happiness at the first organization of MAKÜFEST. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of developing social and emotional intelligence in addition to academic success, saying: "We know that academic effort alone is not enough to be happy and successful. Mehmet Akif Ersoy University students, the students addressed by Akif as 'Asım's generation', should not be satisfied with academic success alone. It is very important for us that you become a generation sensitive to national and humanitarian issues. In addition, we attach great importance to activities like this for the development of your social and emotional intelligence. The importance of teamwork with communities is great. You are young and you deserve to have fun. With this organization, you will relieve your stress after exams for three days and gather energy to study more. I thank all my colleagues who contributed."
Many university groups opened stands at MAKÜFEST. Rector Dalgar and his team visited the stands and also participated in a tug-of-war competition. While the tug-of-war competition between students and teachers ended in a draw, various activities such as sack race, egg carrying race, bicycle tour, jenga tournament, kite event, and chair grabbing race were organized.
From Music to Sports, Competitions to Concerts, MAKÜFEST Offers a Three-Day Festival Program Full of Celebration
The MAKÜFEST continued with a concert by the band Suzudil, and a series of competitions, concerts, and DJ performances will be held for 3 days. Within the festival, there will be concerts by Emin Güneş, 3XL, Necati and Saykolar, MAKÜ THM Community, DJ Evren Kaya, TMDK 100th Year Concert, sports competitions, recreational activities, and award-winning competitions.
