The application and registration process for international students for the 2026–2027 academic year for placements 10, 11, 12, and 13 has begun

2026-2027 ACADEMIC YEAR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT 10TH, 11TH, 12TH, AND 13TH PLACEMENT AND REGISTRATION CALENDAR                                                                                     

Before starting the application process, please read carefully the 2026-2027 Academic Year International Student Admission Application Guide and the related explanations. You can reach us by sending an email to iso@mehmetakif.edu.tr for any technical problems you encounter in the application system and other questions.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

•  - If necessary during the process, candidates will be contacted via the communication information (phone number, email) they entered into the application system. Therefore, it is very important to enter communication information accurately and to regularly check email accounts throughout the application process.
•  - Candidates must apply primarily with their Turkish ID numbers if available. If you do not have a Turkish ID number, please apply with the information on your passport.
•  - Candidates who do not have graduation grades on their high school diploma/transcript must upload a document showing their graduation grade.
•  - To complete their application and be evaluated, candidates must check the box "I have read and approve the text above." in the last step and click the "Save" button.
•  - In applications returned to candidates for preliminary review and correction of deficiencies/errors; candidates must make the necessary corrections and check this box again to save/approve their applications. Otherwise, the application will not be considered complete.

•  - During face-to-face registration, candidates whose online application information contains errors will not be registered.

The application process is carried out through 2 different systems.

3. Stage 1: Application Fee Payment

Applications are accepted online only through our university's website without intermediaries, and no additional fees will be charged to candidates for any process other than the announced amount.

•  - First, you need to visit https://yos.mehmetakif.edu.tr to create a user account.

   

•  - After logging into the system, you need to pay the application fee of 30 USD online.

   

•  - The payment amount will be manually defined by the University after membership.
  
   

• IMPORTANT NOTE: THE APPLICATION FEE WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.

   

Stage 2: Document Upload and Program Preference Procedures

•  - After paying the application fee, you need to click on the “Create a new account” button from the link https://obs.mehmetakif.edu.tr/oibs/foa_app to create a user again.
•  - Then you can upload the following documents and complete your preference procedures.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ONLINE APPLICATION

•  - Original passport and a certified copy of its Turkish translation. (Mandatory)
•  - Original high school diploma and a certified copy of its Turkish translation. (Mandatory)
•  - Original high school transcript and a certified copy of its Turkish translation. (Mandatory)
•  - TR-YÖS Exam result document. (If available)
•  - Document proving that the application fee has been paid. (Mandatory)
•  - Turkish Proficiency (TÖMER) Certificate. (If available)
•  - For Turkish citizens, an exit-entry document from abroad. (Mandatory)

• COUNTRY QUOTA IS APPLIED IN THE DENTISTRY PROGRAM.

  Points to Consider in the Application

•  - Throughout the process, communication is made through the phone/email entered by the candidate into the system; it is important to enter the information correctly and to regularly check the email.
•  - Candidates must apply primarily with their Turkish ID number if available; otherwise, they apply with passport information.
•  - If there is no graduation grade on the high school diploma/transcript, a separate document showing the graduation grade must be uploaded.
•  - To have the application evaluated, the approval box must be checked in the last step and the "Save" button must be pressed.
•  - In applications returned to the system due to deficiencies/errors, it is mandatory to check the approval box again after correction and save it; otherwise, the application will not be considered complete.

•  - Candidates whose online application information contains errors will not be registered during face-to-face registration.

   

Announcement of Results and Online Registration

The application results will be announced through the Student Information System on the evaluation date of the relevant placement (obs.mehmetakif.edu.tr/oibs/foa_app). Candidates who gain the right to register will pay the semester tuition fee through member login at https://yos.mehmetakif.edu.tr within the specified period; when the payment is made, the registration process will be completed online.

Important: The semester tuition fee paid by registered students will not be refunded.

Students who gain the right to register will receive their acceptance letters with QR codes through the Student Information System.

     What the Student Who Pays the Semester Tuition Fee Should Do

• 1) Submission of Student Registration File
• 2) Submission of Residence File - Obtaining Foreign Identity Number (YKN)
• 3) Start of Education

• 4) Turkish Proficiency Preparation Course (If necessary)

   

1. Submission of Student Registration File

The required documents for final registration must be submitted in person by the student or through a notarized representative to the Student Affairs Department by September 30, 2026.

2. Submission of Residence File - Obtaining YKN

Students who complete the registration process and submit the student file must prepare the residence application file and submit it to the International Student Office of the Rectorate Student Affairs Department within 10 business days.

3. Start of Education

To start academic education, it is mandatory to have a C1 level Turkish Proficiency Certificate (TÖMER) issued by Yunus Emre Institute or state universities. Students with a valid certificate complete their course registration procedures by presenting their documents to the academic unit they are registered in.

4. Turkish Proficiency Preparation Course

The process for students who do not have a valid TÖMER certificate is as follows:

•  - Turkish Level Determination Exam: Conducted by MAKÜ TÖMER.
•  - C1 level: The student can start directly in their academic program.
•  - B2 level (conditional registration): The student starts education conditionally; they must score at C1 level in the exam to be held at the end of the first year.
•  - Those who fail the exam: They are enrolled in the MAKÜ TÖMER Turkish Preparation Class and cannot start academic education directly.
