TURKEY IS IMPASSABLE

“I have lived free since eternity, I live free.
What madman would put chains on me? I am amazed!”
— Mehmet Âkif Ersoy

We celebrate with great enthusiasm, pride, and gratitude the 103rd anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day, when our nation declared its love for “freedom and independence” to the world with one of the brightest victories in history.

Our nation, which inscribed the phrase “Çanakkale is Impassable” into world history in 1915, also announced to the entire world the determination that “Turkey is Impassable” in August 1922. The Great Offensive, which began at Kocatepe on August 26, 1922, was crowned with a decisive victory at Dumlupınar on August 30; this march extended to the liberation of Izmir on September 9, 1922, fully illuminating the horizon of the homeland.

Our university, named after our National Poet Mehmet Âkif Ersoy, is determined to carry the ideal of “living free” inherited from our ancestors into the future through scientific production, quality education, and diligence.

With these thoughts, I commemorate with gratitude the commander-in-chief of the Great Victory, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms, I pray to Almighty Allah for mercy on our martyrs who are the eternal guardians of our independence, and I remember our veterans with gratitude.

Happy August 30 Victory Day.
