Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), by taking an important step in the international academic field, became a full member of the European University Association (EUA), the largest and most prestigious university umbrella organization in Europe, headquartered in Brussels, with the decision made at the council meeting held on October 25, 2024. EUA represents universities in 49 European countries, national rectors' conferences, and over 900 member and affiliated organizations within and outside Europe. As the largest and most comprehensive organization representing universities in Europe, the association ensures the integration of higher education institutions, supports the development of European higher education and research areas, and promotes the quality continuity of member universities. Among the thematic priorities that EUA will focus on in the future of higher education are digitalization in education and teaching, the development of a new system for the employment of young graduates, and the establishment of an open access system across Europe. It is expected that our membership will contribute to MAKÜ's strategic development goals, strengthen the university's steps towards globalization, and offer new perspectives in exchange programs, joint research projects, and other areas of cooperation.
