World-Renowned Professor from Howard University at MAKÜ for Workshop

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University hosted an event that made significant contributions to Engineering Education and International Accreditation processes. The workshop titled "Engineering Education, ABET Accreditation and Compliance," held at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Conference Hall, was organized with the participation of Prof. Dr. Nadir Yılmaz from Howard University, one of the leading universities in the USA. Howard University consistently ranks high in QS and Times Higher Education rankings and is especially renowned worldwide in the field of engineering.

Prof. Dr. Nadir Yılmaz, a highly awarded academician known for his expertise in ABET accreditation and leadership in engineering education, was honored with the prestigious AAAS Fellow title by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2023. Yılmaz has also been recognized multiple times by leading organizations such as the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), particularly for his work on excellence in engineering education and the integration of minority groups into STEM fields.

In the workshop, Prof. Dr. Nadir Yılmaz provided comprehensive information about engineering education and ABET accreditation processes in the USA and engaged in an interactive discussion with participants on innovation in education, leadership, and the use of technology. At the end of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Uyumaz, presented a thank-you plaque to Prof. Dr. Yılmaz for his contributions.
