Prestigious Green Flag Award to MAKU, the Pioneer in Barrier-Free Education

This year, among a total of 1709 applications from 112 universities, 76 universities managed to win a total of 319 flags in the "Barrier-Free University Awards" organized by the Higher Education Council.

 

Barrier-Free University Flags are given in three categories: Orange Flag for accessibility in space, Green Flag for accessibility in education, and Blue Flag for accessibility in socio-cultural activities. Among this year's winners, there are 228 Orange Flags, 55 Green Flags, and 36 Blue Flags.

 

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Istiklal Campus and Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Library have won the 2024 Accessibility in Space Award (Orange Flag), and MAKÜ Faculty of Sports Sciences has won the 2024 Accessibility in Education Award (Green Flag).

 

Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, emphasizing the important role of MAKÜ in barrier-free education, said, “We attach great importance to the awards organized to ensure equal opportunities in education, to remove barriers in higher education entrance and during the education process. We continue our efforts in this regard and these awards, which are the result of our efforts, made us happy. I thank all my colleagues who contributed.”

 

In addition, our University's Health, Culture and Sports Directorate building, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Sports Sciences and Athlete Training Application Research Center, and Faculty of Dentistry were nominated for the Accessibility in Space Award (Orange Flag), and Istiklal Campus was nominated for the Socio-Cultural Activities Award (Blue Flag).
