Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), in line with its internationalization vision, made significant contacts in Germany. On behalf of the university, Rector's Advisor Prof. Dr. Dursun Köse and International Relations Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Gürkan Dilek met with academics and Turkish citizens living abroad in the cities of Gelsenkirchen, Duisburg, and Essen.

During the meetings, the academic structure of MAKÜ, its educational opportunities, and the facilities it offers to international students were introduced in detail. The university, which has a capacity of over 35,000 students and currently hosts 1,572 international students, presented its numerous academic programs offered in different disciplines to the participants' interest.

The university model open to society

In the meetings, it was emphasized that MAKÜ does not adopt a solely campus-focused education approach but also has a structure that brings education to rural areas and different segments of society. It was stated that the university increases its social contribution day by day with informative and awareness-raising activities.

It was noted that MAKÜ is an attractive university for international students due to its central location in Anatolia, favorable climate conditions, accessible accommodation opportunities, and inclusion in the European accreditation system. Additionally, it was conveyed that thanks to the implemented "Micro Qualification" program, students can gain additional skills outside their fields.

Educational bridge from Germany to Turkey

In the seminars, it was also mentioned that the university supports social life with its active student clubs and aims to be a pioneer in educational mobility from Germany to Turkey.

On the other hand, it was reminded that foreign students who want to study in Turkey can apply to universities after completing their diploma equivalency procedures through the Republic of Turkey embassies or consulates in their own countries. To start the education process, at least B2, and at the graduation stage, C1 level Turkish language proficiency is required.
